Our
Mission

Students' transition to university can be challenging due to gaps in student experience. High school education is rooted in knowledge-based delivery, while universities shift their emphasis towards critical thinking. Through strong collaborations between graduate students, faculty, and high school educators, Discovery closes these gaps between learning levels.

Math Teacher With Face Mask

Equity

We provide opportunities to schools with high Learning Opportunities Indicices (LOIs) to help students engage in external learning experiences that wouldn't normally be available to them

Students in Library

Accessibility

We partner with sponsors, scholars, and institutions to provide education universally across entire cohorts of high school students with no associated costs or applications to participate

Speaker with Hands Raised

Simplicity

We create educational partnerships with secondary school educators in an integrated approach that complements their teaching methods comfortably within their pre-established programming framework

Our
Impact

Our program creates learning opportunities beyond what's normally offered in a traditional schooling environment. But, as the skeptical scientists we are, we needed the evidence to know for sure.

Discovery has conducted and published several studies that show just how positive the program's impact can be for everyone involved.

“In class, if I'm doing a lesson or a
chapter, they kind of expect me to teach them the chapter. Well, [in Discovery], they do it all  themselves.”

Discovery gets educators exploring pedagogy in the University of Toronto's world-class lab facilities.
